Overview

Nova’s product had drifted into five subtly different button styles. The design system pulled them back into one source of truth shared by design and code.

The challenge

Adoption, not authoring. A component library only works if teams reach for it first — so the system had to be easier to use than not to.

Approach

  • Tokens defined once, compiled to CSS, iOS, and Android
  • Every component documented in Storybook with copy-paste examples
  • A linter that flags off-system colors before they ship

Outcome

New features now assemble from the library by default, and design-QA time on pull requests dropped sharply.
